Fashion Revolution Week Starts Now!
Today marks the 4th anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, a tragedy that took the lives of 1,100 garment workers in Bangladesh in 2013. We now refer to this day as Fashion Revolution Day, and use it as a time to reflect on how we can respect the process of how the clothes we wear are made. OBEY Clothing is proud to join Shepard Fairey and the fellow Fair Trade activists below to kick off Fashion Revolution Week.
Be curious. Find out. Do something.

“Social responsibility and justice have always been very important to Obey in both message and practice. A longstanding challenge for us has been how to bring high quality clothing to our customers at an affordable price while adhering to our moral code from a human labor standpoint. In other words, how do we reconcile our value system with the pressures of the economic system? We have always researched diligently and chosen to work with manufacturers who provide a fair wage and ethical working conditions. We made the further step to become an official FAIR TRADE USA partner. Fair Trade is a program in apparel and we hope to grow with it as more Fair Trade Approved factories become available. Our hope is not only to benefit the workers of the Fair Trade factories, but to lead by example and promote the expansion of the Fair Trade program.”

Ethics have been important to OBEY since day one – and now more than ever, it’s important to do the right thing. That’s why we’re proud to shine a light on our Fair Trade Collection – select items in our line that are produced under globally respected standards, easily identifiable by a Fair Trade logo on the hang tag and product photo online.
If you’re unfamiliar with Fair Trade, here’s how it works: it’s a market-based approach that empowers factory workers and farmers to fight poverty, produce quality products, protect the environment, and build strong, thriving communities for generations to come. For every OBEY Fair Trade Certified product sold, a percentage is paid directly to a special fund for the workers who create our goods. They decide collectively how to spend these funds based on their community’s greatest needs: from scholarships to school busses, to medical care and disaster relief services.
We hope to help empower you, the consumer, with the knowledge that your purchase has a positive impact on the people who sew and grow the products you love. Buy Fair. Be Fair. See our Fair Trade Collection here.
